Fred has been playing in bands since his high school days when he formed "River's Edge", a rock band that played 60's and 70's rock and roll. His
mother introduced him to the piano age 4. At age 13, he started to rebel but unable to shake his love of music, Fred decided to to take up the guitar. He took classical lessons for a year but really wanted to learn how to play Rock and Roll so he made the switch and bought his first electric guitar. It was a 1958 Gretsch Duo Jet with a Bigsby. He regrets having sold it to this day. In 1993, he got together with some of his freinds and started to jam. This would be the early stages of what would eventually lead to the forming of "Switchback". Apart from playing rhythm guitar, Fred contributes with vocals and harmonies.
Influences: Wide variety of musical tastes such as Classical (Bach, Beethovan), Blues (Robert Cray, BB King) Rock and Roll (The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Doors, Animals) and of course Mom, for introducing and encouraging me to play music.
Notes on performing: When I'm on stage, I get a huge adreneline rush and love connecting with my fellow band members and the audience each time out. For me, the only sad part is that it seems like the gig is over in a flash. Can't wait until the next one!
